Enhancing Early Childhood Leadership Through Technology: Implementing the "Cultivating Connections" Infographic

At The LUX Schools, we are committed to leveraging technology to strengthen family and community partnerships in early childhood education. As part of my upcoming TECPDS training, I have developed the "Cultivating Connections" infographic using Piktochart, a powerful digital design tool that enhances visual communication. This infographic will serve as a key resource in training administrators on the Program Administration Scale, Third Edition (PAS-3) by Teri N. Talan, Jill M. Bella, and Paula Jorde Bloom, focusing on Core Competencies for Administrators, Area 6: Instituting Family and Community-Centered Programming.

Why Technology? Why Piktochart?

In preparing for my training, I explored various digital image design platforms, including Canva, Venngage, and Adobe Photoshop Express, but ultimately chose Piktochart due to its user-friendly interface, professional templates, and customization features. The tool allowed me to simplify complex PAS-3 concepts into a clear, structured, and engaging format, making it more accessible for administrators, educators, and families.

The infographic presents PAS-3 key areas—family communication, engagement, support, and community outreach—in a concise and visually appealing format. This approach ensures that program administrators can quickly grasp best practices and apply them within their own early childhood centers.

How This Infographic Elevates Training

During the TECPDS training session, the "Cultivating Connections" infographic will be used in multiple ways:

✅ Visual Anchor for Key Concepts – PAS-3 contains detailed leadership assessment criteria, which can feel overwhelming in text form. This infographic organizes the information into digestible sections, helping administrators easily understand and implement best practices.

✅ Training Resource for Administrators – Attendees will receive printed and digital versions of the infographic to use as a reference tool when evaluating their family and community engagement strategies. This ensures that PAS-3 remains actionable beyond the training.

✅ Interactive Discussion Tool – The infographic will facilitate group discussions and reflection activities, allowing administrators to assess their current practices and develop improvement strategies aligned with PAS-3 benchmarks.

✅ Framework for Real-World Applications – Administrators will use the infographic to analyze case studies and assess the impact of family engagement strategies, helping them apply PAS-3 principles to real-life scenarios.

Feedback & Future Applications

After completing the infographic, I shared it with my colleagues at The LUX Schools, fellow administrators, and early childhood professionals. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive:

📌 Educators appreciated how the infographic clarified PAS-3 subscales, particularly in family communication, engagement, and support services.

📌 Administrators found it valuable as a training and reference tool, helping them implement PAS-3 principles more effectively.

📌 Suggestions for improvement included adding QR codes to link to additional PAS-3 resources, which I plan to integrate into future iterations.

As we continue to integrate technology into professional development, I see potential for Piktochart in staff training materials, parent education resources, and classroom learning aids. The success of this project reaffirms that visual tools can enhance professional learning, making critical program quality tools more accessible and actionable.

The "Cultivating Connections" infographic is just the beginning of how we at The LUX Schools are embracing technology-driven solutions to strengthen early childhood leadership. I look forward to sharing this resource at the upcoming TECPDS training and expanding its use to benefit early childhood professionals, families, and communities.
